NEW Timeslots now available

Due to popular demand, I have added NEW timeslots on Mondays and Tuesdays as of October 3, 2011. These timeslots are ideal for school students and they will be given preference. These timeslots are for new students only.

Mondays: 4.00pm, 4.30pm

Tuesdays: 4.00pm, 4.30pm

In other exciting news, my husband and I have purchased our first home together, not far from our current premises and will be moving into it over the school holidays. This means a change to the teaching premises. I ask for your patience as we organise the teaching space during this time. Unfortunately, a waiting room is no longer available indoors, but there is a covered porch for your use. Also, until we finalise the house renovations, we will not be able to offer toileting facilities for a few months, so please, all those who travel long distances, you may have to make alternative arrangements!

We will be moving into Norman Park, and are the same distance from Norman Park station as currently, and the 210 and 212 buses are very close. The teaching space is larger than the old studio and more resonant! We look forward to posting pictures in due course.

I have been painting the studio over the last few days, and pulling out tacks from the floor in preparation for sanding. The studio is large and airy, with excellent natural light and good resonance. Because it is not a square box, the acoustical properties of the room are much better than the previous studio. I think you will all enjoy singing in it! There are currently louvre windows rather than casement ones, which makes the room a little noisy from the traffic outside. We will be investigating the cost of replacing the louvres with casement windows over the next two years.

Lessons finish on Wednesday September 14 and recommence on Monday October 3. Details about our end-of-year concert will also be available then. This November, too, some 12 of our Plainsong students will be sitting their AMEB singing exams. We wish them well!

In other news, both Riley and Chenaya performed very well at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Chenaya taking out the Junior Championship in her year level. Well done Chenaya! Both Riley and Chenaya are regular Eisteddfod performers, and have really honed their craft over the last few years. It’s great to see them doing so well and I encourage regular Eisteddfod enrolment to develop confidence in singing.

As mentioned in a previous post, both Daisy and Will performed in the Enoggera Eisteddfod and each took out first place in their sections. Daisy also won an encouragement award – well done! Daisy, Will, Riley, Chenaya and Hannah will all be competing in the Brisbane Eisteddfod in September and we wish them every success. In other news, a number of my year 12 students are sitting their final singing exams in Music Extension, and we wish them all the very best wishes for a brilliant result.

Stay tuned for more details about our move and for details about our end-of-year Showcase Concert.
